Children's Ministry DirectorSanta Rosa, CA Category: Children's Pastor & Children's Ministry Posted on: June 12, 2012 | Report this listing | Job Description: | Santa Rosa, Calif--The Children's Ministry Director will work 20 hours per week (on average) under the supervision of the Pastor and the Elders to provide effective and comprehensive ministry to our children, their friends, and to children in the community. (salary range: $12-$18/hour)
PURPOSE: To implement, manage and provide leadership for all children's ministries activities and events of our church, giving particular attention to the Sunday School program for children (Nursery through 6th grade).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Vitality and Leadership—a. Spend consistent time in prayer and Bible Study and other activities, such as: meeting with a mentor, classes, seminars, homegroup b. Meet with parents, children and ministry team, as needed c. Pray for ministry team, families and congregational needs
Sunday School program coordination—a. Recruit, schedule and support all volunteers b. Oversee curriculum and provide necessary support materials c. Provide for teacher training, development and recognition
d. Manage and maintain supplies, classrooms and the Teacher Resource Room.
Other program leadership—a. Facilitate the involvement of children in worship, including Message for Young Disciples, Third Grade Bible presentations, Christmas Eve and Easter/Lent activities b. Provide leadership for Summer Kids Camp and a mid-week program c. As time and vision allow, provide leadership for other programs such as Mom's Day Out
Administration—a. Attend weekly staff meetings b. Maintain records of attendance, contact information, emergency cards and volunteer schedules c. Publicize and promote all children's ministry activities d. Strictly observe the Cove's safety standards and adhere to all personnel policies e. Schedule rooms and interface with user groups of shared facilities
COMPENSATION: $12 to $18/hr depending on background, experience, and education level (no Bachelor's =$12-$16; Bachelor's = $14-$17; Master's in relevant field = $16-$18). No medical/health care benefits; Technology allowance of $50/month for cell phone and computer expense offset.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD BRING...
Mature Christian Commitment: strong background in Christian experience, ministry, and theology.
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: self-confidence, love for children, effective teacher, trainer and nurturer, good at delegating, understanding group dynamics, ability to listen to others
Educational Achievement: Bachelor's degree not required; must have high level of academic ability
Computer Skills: (in order of importance) Word, email, web browsing, spreadsheet, Powerpoint, desktop publishing (Photoshop, movie-making, others are a plus!)
