Job Description:
The primary purpose of the position is to serve Floris UMC by developing, coordinating and administering a_noemailprehensive and expanding educational ministries program for children (infant through 5th grade) of the church and the surrounding_noemailmunity and providing leadership to and supervision of staff members and volunteers involved in this ministry.
Responsibilities:Following the direction and guidance of the Director of Grow, plans and_noemailanizes all special events including but not limited to, Vacation Bible School, Kids Fest, Kid's Night Out, Preschool Christmas Eve service, Preschool Easter Celebrations, Core Discipleship programs, etc. This position recruits and equips volunteer and volunteer leaders, determines requirements for, and ensures availability of facilities, supplies and equipment to support Children's Ministries. In alignment with the Floris mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, this position will assume leadership of Children's Ministries, engaging in vision and strategy for the ministry. Supervise the Children's Ministries Coordinator and Childcare Supervisor. Oversee Childcare Ministry. Oversee and champion the Child Protection Policy training program. Research and evaluate Children's Ministries curriculum for clarity and strength around Methodist values. Review and select curriculum materials and educational tools for Children's Ministries programs. Work with the Floris UMC Preschool Director to create, implement, and_noemailanize Chapel Time for preschool. Establish ministry goals and objectives in relation to the Church Council End Statement policies by prioritizing related programs, managing the use of facilities, planning an appropriate budget, delegating tasks and evaluating progress regularly. Create a sustainable and affordable structure for Children's Ministries; and, identify problem areas and r_noemailmend operational policies and practices to the Director of Grow. Serve on the Children's Ministries Council and work with all appropriate_noemailmittees and leaders to carry out children's ministry. Attend all necessary meetings as directed by the Executive Director and the Director of Grow in order to ensure that when dealing with internal affairs and making day-to-day management decisions that they are in line with the Senior Pastor's overall vision and direction of Children's Ministries.
Qualifications: BA or equivalent in Education/Christian Education.Minimum of 5 years of current experience in directing a large program area that requires using a diverse set of administrative skills to manage a large and expanding program involving children and education. Current experience in the recruitment, development and management of a significant number of volunteers. Knowledge of theory and techniques required to manage and maintain a vital children's ministry in a large church.
