WHO MIGHT MEET OUR NEEDS? Possibly a seminarian or a candidate for the ordained ministry as a PASTOR INTERN. The intern mainly will be responsible for leading ministry with our post-high single young adults and young married couples, as well as heading up outreach and discipleship efforts in our_noemailmunity. In addition we are seeking help with occasional preaching and leading in worship. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include five main areas of ministry: 1) Shepherding young adults, and young couples: disciple and mentor young adults and young couples, both members and visitors; encourage their involvement in ministry programs; be active among post-high College & Careers, single young adults and young couples. 2) Evangelism and Outreach: be the main contact for youth, young adults, and young couples visiting worship services; actively involved in_noemailmunity outreach; encourage youth to participate in outreach and service opportunities. 3) Sunday worship services: exhorting ("preaching") twice per month at Covenant and once per month elsewhere; leading God's people in uplifting worship with songs, prayers, etc. 4) Teaching Ministry: oversee the content of materials used in all youth, young adult, young couples programs; teach "one semester" of a high school catechism class; lead in various Bible studies, as needed; be coordinator of the existing Fellowship Groups. 5) Proposing and implementing other opportunities for ministry: research ideas from other Reformed/Presbyterian churches which have proven effective in youth, education, and outreach/discipleship programs.
QUALIFICATIONS include: a passion for Christ; an enthusiasm for Biblical teachings from a contemporary Reformed viewpoint; a love for the younger generation(s) of church members; enrolment in and/or graduation from a Reformed or evangelical Presbyterian seminary; proven authoritative and non-authoritative leadership skills; familiarity with development strategies for youth and youth programs; experience in evangelism and discipleship ministries;_noemailfortable in multicultural urban environment.
WHO ELSE MIGHT MEET OUR NEEDS? Possibly a YOUTH AND OUTREACH CANDIDATE. He would be responsible for leading ministry involving high-school and post-high youth and young couples. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include these four main areas:
1) Youth Program Development: assist the youth to discover and develop their spiritual gifts; review existing programs and enhance them; seek out youth leadership opportunities within these programs. 2) Shepherding youth: disciple and mentor new, younger members and visitors; encourage youth to b_noemaile involved in all aspects of church life; create dynamic youth programs and participate in events; support them through life events; be active among post-high College & Careers singles and young couples. 3) Evangelism and Outreach: be the main contact for youth visiting Covenant; actively involved in_noemailmunity outreach; encourage youth to participate in outreach and service opportunities. 4) Teaching Ministry: assist in the leading and/or oversee the theological content of youth programs; teach a catechism class; lead a Bible study. 5) The candidate also will act in an advisory capacity to all programs involving children and youth in the church.
