Job Description:

Otterbein Church is looking for an experienced self-motivated leader to oversee and lead our Youth Ministry (currently 100+ students) who has a passion for helping students in grades 6-12 and their families grow spiritually and b_noemaile fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will have:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Leadership skills with the ability to_noemailmunicate vision and direction for the church's youth ministry.
Strong_noemailmunication and teaching skills to students and adults.
A love for preteens, teenagers and their families.
A_noemailmitment to both youth evangelism and youth discipleship.
A conviction that the church should view themselves as partners with parents in the spiritual formation of their children.
An ability to plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate worship, connection, growth and service experiences.
A dedication to a "Large Group/Small Group" programming model.
Experience in recruiting, developing, and overseeing adult and student volunteers
Provide leadership and oversight for the entire youth ministry (grades 6 through 12) of the church. This shall include determining the overall vision for the youth ministry (in conjunction with the overall purpose and vision of the church), vision-casting, planning and administration of the various facets of the church's youth ministry.
Oversee the development of student leaders to serve within the context of the youth ministry and the church at large.
Recruit, prepare, and deploy adult volunteers to serve in addition to parents as spiritual influencers of the students within the youth ministry.
Be actively involved in regular contact with volunteers at times other than ministry events and programs (recreationally, socially, over meals, etc.) to encourage and deepen relationships with them.
Determine curriculum to be used and oversee its distribution as needed.
Develop partnering relationships with parents for the purpose of inspiring, training and resourcing them in the spiritual development of their children.
Oversee protection and security issues in the youth ministry and criminal/child abuse background checks of all volunteers.
Work with other church staff to coordinate program schedules with the church at large.
Submit an annual budget request to the Management Oversight Team and manage financial resources throughout the year in accordance with the approved budget.
Perform other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Pastor.

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree. A degree related to youth ministry/education (grades 6-12) is desired, but ministry experience with youth and other training will be considered in place of a degree in youth ministry/education. Applicants must have a strong understanding and knowledge of the Bible.

We desire a person with a minimum of 3 years of experience in leading a youth ministry within a local church context. We will also consider persons who have experience in teaching and/or administration in education or other related professions. Applicants finishing a college degree in youth ministry will also be considered even if the minimum experience requirement is not met.
