Chief Financial Officer
Job Description:
The Chief Financial Officer will report to the Opendoor Church Lead Pastor and will assume a strategic role in the overall management of Opendoor Church, Opendoor Child Development Center, Opendoor After School, and Opendoor School. The CFO will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing all financial-related activities of Opendoor Church and its businesses. This will include (but not be limited to) direct responsibility for banking activities, employee payroll and benefits, accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, property management, purchasing, investments, negotiations, bidding, and_noemailpliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial and operational metrics
Ensure staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals, and monitor the use of all funds
Ensure legal and regulatory_noemailpliance regarding all financial functions
Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials, forward financial statements to accounting firm to prepare monthly statements
Prepare and_noemailmunicate annual and monthly financial statements for the Lead Pastor and Board of Directors; present reports at Board meetings and as requested by the Lead Pastor
Monitor and reconcile AR and Expenditures; advise Lead Pastor of any r_noemailmended changes to our financial projections
Review all current finance-related procedures, processes, and administration, r_noemailmending improvements to the systems in place and managing systems going forward; develop and maintain a financial handbook/guide: Opendoor Internal Controls and Financial Procedures
Collaborate on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic r_noemailmendations based on financial analysis and projections
Participate in ongoing strategic planning process
Oversee long-term budgetary planning in alignment with Opendoor Church strategic plan when developed
Remain up-to-date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations
Work with staff to develop and improve purchasing protocols
Education/Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or Finance preferred, not required
5-8 years of professional experience
Demonstrated experience in financial management, accounting, and operations development, human resources, with some experience ideally in the nonprofit sector
Excellent written and verbal_noemailmunication skills
Ability to be flexible and a self-starter and be able to multi-task while being highly detailed and_noemailanized
Excellent people skills
