Job Summary:
The Middle School Staff Leader provides vision and leadership for ministry to 6, 7, and 8th grade youth through personal relationships, leadership, and innovative programs and events. (Currently 80 to 100 middle school youth)
Primary Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry Leadership
1. Inspires, develops, and cares for middle school volunteer leaders.
2. Plans and implements the weekly "Journey" program with large and small group formats. Programming includes curriculum development, teaching, games or activities, facility preparation, and audio / visual / computer needs.
3. Plans and implements exciting middle school youth outreach events and/or retreats throughout the year and an extended overnight summer service project trip.
4. Plans and implements an engaging and effective 6th grade transition into youth ministry and adult Sunday morning services. (Previously the transition program was an 8 week Sunday morning class.)
5. Maintains positive and consistent parent communication and partnership.
6. Provides discipleship tools for youth to spiritually grow on their own outside of weekly programming. (i.e. devotional books, journals, scripture memory cards)
7. Creates, and leads others to create, attractive and quality print and video communications pieces for youth programs and events as well as update website info.
8. Assists or oversees administrative duties of middle school youth ministries, including youth data records and event registrations.
Church-Wide Leadership
1. Provides opportunities and training for new youth volunteer leaders.
2. Ensures leaders, plans, and resources are aligned to the Church's vision, mission, values and goals.
3. Collaborates with other staff team members in coordination with other ministries for church-wide events. Actively integrates youth into church-wide activities and events, equipping them to lead and to serve.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree (biblical classroom training preferred)
2. At least 2 years of full time youth ministry leadership experience
3. Knowledge of computer print-publishing and video editing programs - preferred
Compensation:
Full-time salary TBD, 30K-40K, based on experience / qualifications, plus health & dental benefits
Pastoral development:
This position is able to develop into a pastoral role - "Middle School Youth Pastor"
