Job Description:
Next-Gen Pastor for INTERSECT

Valley Community Church in Pleasanton, California, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Next-Gen Pastor for INTERSECT. This person will develop and implement a ministry platform for post-modern people ages eighteen to thirty-something. This person will serve as a member of the Core Ministry Team under the leadership and guidance of the Executive Pastor.

Minimum Requirements
• 2-5 years experience in Next-Gen ministry
• Bachelor’s degree and/or seminary training in ministry and Biblical studies

Desired Experience
• Starting a new ministry with a missional emphasis
• Leading the overall creative process for a ministry

Skills/Gifts
The ideal candidate should:
• Effectively preach/teach God’s Word to the next generation.
• Relate and interact well with multiple demographics.
• Recruit, train, and empower people to do the work of the ministry.
• Work with multiple levels of paid and volunteer staff.
• Develop this ministry in a manner that is integrated with the entire congregation.
• Effectively reach out and proactively minister to the unchurched and our community at large.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills and highly values consensus and team-building

Job Description
The job of the Next-Gen Pastor is to:
• Identify and train up leaders within and outside this age group to help carry the ministry.
• Work with a team to locate and develop an offsite facility to house Intersect ministry events and outreaches.
• Eventually develop/facilitate weekly worship gatherings for post-moderns employing culturally appropriate music, media, and teaching.
• Foster a strong sense of community through small groups.
• Build in social action/justice as a pillar of the Intersect ministry.
• Create opportunities to have contact with the Next-Gen beyond regularly scheduled church events/programs.
