POSITION: Organist/Accompanist
REPORTS TO: Head of Staff
OVERVIEW
Located on a 20-acre campus setting, Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church is a growing, dynamic, disciple-making church that is committed to evangelize, nurture, and equip the church body for discipleship and service. We are strategically located in the middle of a rapidly growing school district with our campus surrounded by both the high school and middle school. We seek a highly motivated, musically capable, person of vision to coordinate and accompany a Traditional Service.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Organist is a part-time position (8-10 Hours) dedicated to Concord Liberty's Traditional Worship Service. The Organist will maintain a deep commitment to the spiritual and musical needs of the church working through traditional music to strengthen the church body..This position reports directly to the Head of Staff and is also under the counsel and evaluation of the Worship Committee and the Personnel Committee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate carries out this position by:
• Select weekly hymns, prelude, offering song and postlude and forward selections to office staff on or before the Wednesday morning preceding each Sunday to be used during the traditional service. Ensure all musical selections advance the theme that the pastor has set for the day.
• Works closely with Choir Director both on Sunday and at rehearsals to help ensure that the overall musical program is appropriate to the themes being presented by the pastor.
• Arrive at least .5 hour prior to the Sunday service in order to rehearse choir in morning song and perform prelude music
• Accompany the congregation and the choir during the traditional service via Organ and/or Piano
• Depart no less than 10 minutes after the conclusion of the service in order to perform closing music (appropriate selections of own choice)
• Attend and accompany weekly rehearsals for the choir (s)
• Prepare own Goals and Objectives at the beginning of each year based on Worship Committee objectives as guided by CLPC Strategic Plan
• Attend monthly Worship Committee meeting.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
