Our Saviour's Lutheran Church seeks a seasoned music director who can lovingly tend a traditional Chancel Choir and develop a new Praise & Worship service. We are an established congregation worshiping in a liturgical style. We are ready to add a new contemporary/blended service to our worship life. The only missing piece is the right leader to continue to guide and direct our Chancel Choir and develop and grow our new service. We are very excited about the future for our new music director. The part-time job requires a spirit led person who has a strong sense of adventure and fun.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate and supervise musical staff, paid and volunteer, currently including chancel choir, organists, pianist, musicians and blended-contemporary vocalist.
Prepare and lead weekly rehearsals with traditional and blended-contemporary musical groups as outlined above.
Plan/coordinate musical selections for all English vocal and instrumental groups with Pastor, Music and Worship Committee and all other appropriate staff members.
Interview and audition for both paid and volunteer vocal and instrumental positions as needed.
Recruit and inspire congregational volunteers for participation and support in current and future music related events
Creatively contribute to the ongoing development of a unique version of blended-contemporary worship service inspires the soul musically while remaining true to Lutheran theology.
Assist in the preparation of an annual budget and musical calendar.
COMPETENCIES:
Bachelors degree in applicable field preferred or multiple years of commensurate experience
Vocal and/or instrumental talent
Appreciate and excel in both traditional and blended-contemporary musical settings
Loving, encouraging spirit with excellent organization and communication skills
Basic sound system understanding/experience a plus
