Senior Pastor Position Profile
General Information
Santa Cruz Bible Church (SCBC) is seeking a Senior Pastor to serve our fellowship in the purpose to which we believe God has called us. This purpose is to follow the Great Commandment, the Great Commission, as reflected in our purpose statement to love God, love others, and serve the world. The role of the Senior Pastor at Santa Cruz Bible Church is to glorify Christ through accurate teaching of the Scripture, lived out in authentic relationship among the congregation of SCBC and within the Santa Cruz area.
Scripturally, we believe the spiritual gift mix for this position is that of Teacher/ Pastor, as described in Ephesians 4 and Leadership as defined in Romans 12. The Senior Pastor will serve as a Board Elder and would carry out the vision of SCBC to be an Ephesians 4 equipping church, a high value at SCBC. The role of Senior Pastor will have significant input for vision, direction, and implementation to lead and equip the body to "do the work of the ministry". We are looking for a man who loves the Word of God, and will love the people God calls him to serve.
Organizationally, the role of the Senior Pastor will give oversight to the pastoral and lead staff, encouraging unity, exhorting in love, and leading staff to focus upon equipping the congregation for ministry. He will oversee the filling of the weekend services by preaching regularly or opening the pulpit to qualified teachers. He will develop teams of pastoral staff and body members who are gifted in teaching and leadership to grow the next generation of leaders within SCBC.
Basic Position Qualifications
The person in this position needs to have the following:
Education M. Div. minimum or equivalent seminary degree.
Experience 5+ years of ministry experience which includes having served as a Teaching Pastor, Senior Pastor, or Associate Teaching Pastor in a church over 500, including direct oversight of lead staff and volunteer ministry leaders.
Spiritual Gifting Primary gifts are Pastor and Teacher (I Cor. 12:28, Rom. 12:7, Eph. 4:11)

Talents and Skills Ability to communicate with passion and clarity, imparting vision to the church family, and represent SCBC to the greater Santa Cruz area.
Spiritual Qualities
This person must meet all the qualifications of an Elder as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. The person in this position will be characterized by:
