Job Title: Full-Time Youth Director
(Youth begins with sixth grade)

Northminster Presbyterian Church: is a growing church in the northern Suburbs of Peoria, Illinois. Northminster has about 500 people worshipping on an average Sunday. We are a very young church with great potential for youth ministry. This is a tremendous opportunity for the person God sends to us.

Purpose:

The Youth Director will provide leadership for and foster participation and growth of middle school and senior high ministries. The Youth Ministry Team has established a mission statement which reads: Youth Ministry at Northminster Presbyterian Church exists for outreach to youth meeting together to magnify the name of Christ, equipping them for God’s work, gathered together in the safety of our church family actively living out their faith in Christ.

Accountability:

Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works closely with the Youth Ministry Team. The Youth Director also coordinates with Children’s Ministry Team.

Education / Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and has experience working with youth in middle school and high school. Youth experience in a large church is desirable.

• Strong communication skills / disciplines
• Ability and energy to inspire teenagers and parents
• Desire to equip others for ministry
• Theologically consistent with NPC and share its priorities
• Sound working knowledge of Scripture
• One who believes they are called to "youth ministry" with a long-term commitment
• Take initiative - be a self-starter on a regular basis

Responsibilities / Expectations

• Be the primary leader for NPC youth ministry
• Develop youth ministry that extends to the whole family
• Develop and implement youth programs, in conjunction with the Youth Ministry Team
• Coordinate and oversee, with the youth team, fellowship, small groups, worship and Christian Education for youth
• Provide leadership for the Confirmation Team
• Teach regularly in such programs as Sunday School and small groups
• Be the primary leader and spokesperson for the outreach of NPC youth ministry in the church and community
• Function as a team player on the staff and with volunteers on the Youth Ministry Team
• Establish and maintain clear communication with youth and parents
• Provide direction and oversight for all youth-related publications, including newsletters, church bulletin announcements, web-site content and youth marketing
• Prepare annual youth ministry budget
• Direct the fundraising projects that support youth mission
