Position Title: Program Coordinator
Department: Children¡¦s Discipleship
JOB SUMMARY:
This is a full-time salaried position. The Program Coordinator has direct oversight of day-to-day planning and development of all classes and programs for children birth-5th grade.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Coordinator¡¦s role is focused on the areas of Programs, Transitions and Budget, as outlined below.
ƒÜ Coordinate current children¡¦s programs and classes and work closely with the Leadership Coordinator to support all volunteer staff serving within these programs. This includes yearly evaluation of all programs and classes
Ć Coordinate program details and staffing for summer events (camps, retreats, etc.). This includes attending these events as a staff representative.
Ć Assist as necessary with special events (VBS, Day of Service, Advent, etc.)
Ć Identify and develop new programs and classes for children as appropriate
ƒÜ Maintain oversight of the programming budget. This includes annual preparation of the ministry¡¦s programming budget
ƒÜ Partner with the Director to develop and implement transition plans for key age groups within Children¡¦s Discipleship
ƒÜ Create ways to support, encourage and equip parents for their role in developing their own and their children¡¦s faith
Ć Support the Director and program with frequent and effective communication with parents and families
ƒÜ Support the mission, goals and values of Children¡¦s Discipleship
Ć Actively participate in all church staff continuing education and spiritual life activities
Ć Other duties as assigned
ABILITIES / SKILLS
Ć Vital personal relationship with Christ and firm Biblical knowledge
Ć Effective leadership, organizational and relationship-building abilities
Ć Strong oral and written communication skills; creative, dynamic teaching abilities
Ć Experience in leading children in large and small groups; ability to understand and interpret contemporary culture and how to communicate the gospel in that context
ƒÜ Knowledge of key developmental stages within children (birth ¡V 5th grade)
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Ć College degree required; BA or BS in education preferred
Ć CPR/First-Aid certification preferred
ƒÜ Minimum three years¡¦ experience working with children and adults in a large church or para-church ministry
This position reports directly to the Director of Children¡¦s Discipleship and works closely with the Children¡¦s Discipleship staff, the Children¡¦s Discipleship Committee and the Elder for Children¡¦s Discipleship.
