Job Description:
POSITION: Administrative Assistant
SUMMARY:
Together with the Communication Ministry Team, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for helping to fulfill Joyful Harvests vision for administrative ministries: to assist and support the overall mission and vision of Joyful Harvest Church through excellent organization, communication, and coordination of the various ministries of the church. Serving in a Christ-like manner, the Administrative Ministries balance the roles of serving and leading members of the body of Christ in their volunteer ministries.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Publications:
- Produce, duplicate, and fold the weekly worship bulletin and announcements
- Together with a group of volunteers, produce, publish, and mail the monthly newsletter
- Working with the webmaster, publish announcements and calendar updates to the website
- Together with the Communication Ministry Team, send news releases to media outlets and other public relations tasks as needed
Office & Administration:
- Be a welcoming presence to visitors and callers
- Maintain a neat appearance and an orderly office
- Maintain and update church records, including current membership database and mailing lists
- Maintain and publicize master calendar of church activities and events
- General office tasks and other duties as assigned
Volunteer Coordination:
- Schedule Sunday morning volunteers
- Send reminder emails and/or make phone calls weekly to volunteers
- Work with Team Leaders to maintain volunteer job descriptions
- Work with Stewardship Team to compile data from Time and Talent surveys
QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to show discernment and sensitivity in handling confidential information
Trustworthy and respectful
Courteous and cheerful
Strong written and oral communication skills
Confident and a self starter
Strong organizational skills
Detail oriented
Familiarity with general office equipment
Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office
- Desktop publishing experience and familiarity with Microsoft Publisher preferred
Ability to learn tasks and procedures quickly
HOURS:
Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (specific hours may be negotiated)
Participation in the All-Team Meeting on the first Tuesday of every month, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Additional hours as needed to complete responsibilities
Total hours should not exceed 20 hours per week
BENEFITS:
Salary consistent with the 2008 Handbook for Church Staff
Two weeks paid vacation and six recognized paid holidays
