Job Description:
o Love God. Have a passion for worshiping God and leading others in worship. o Have Fun! Joy and energy spill over into the congregation from the staff. o Assent to the mission, vision, and doctrinal beliefs of The United Methodist Church and of Florence First UMC. o See this position as a ministry and not a job. o Assent to a team concept of ministry. This includes the staff, the worship & seasonal teams, and the church as a team. (The Worship Leader will meet weekly with the worship team & quarterly with the seasonal planning team.) o For your own development and that of others, be a part of a Small Group. o Lead The Bridge Band as a small group. Share the Word of God. Pray together. Worship together as you rehearse. o Participate in the lives of the people of First UMC through regular attendance at church events other than The Bridge. o Lead Worship Sunday mornings for The Bridge service & at other congregational services, events, & retreats. - Use individual giftedness to lead the praise team and the congregation in the worship of God. o Develop Praise Teams - Recruit and train new singers - Schedule teams and individuals so that we have quality teams leading the worship times and that individuals are given adequate time off for a Sabbath or to use their gifts in other areas of ministry. - Lead weekly practice time. o Develop Praise Bands; seek out, enlist and train instrumentalists who can lead the congregation in worship through music. o Coordinate the worship service with the preaching pastor. - Direct all musical & auditory aspects of the worship service making sure individuals are prepared and details are in order for a worship service that flows. - Coordinate sound technicians and other lay volunteers that are necessary for completing a worship service. - Ensure that song slides and announcement slides are prepared and in order for the worship service. - Be responsible for coordination of sound equipment and sound checks to ensure readiness for the worship service. o Seek out, secure and prepare new individual and congregational music for use in worship services that uses a full range of instruments. o Seek out, secure and schedule special musicians, soloists, and groups that enhance the worship service. o Work with the preaching pastor and worship team to plan the worship services. o Work with the Music Coordinator and Youth Director to include and schedule children, youth, and other adult choirs and groups into The Bridge service. o Empower others to realize their potential and use their gifts in the music ministry of First UMC. o 2 years experience leading worship, preferred. o Please send a DVD or CD of yourself leading worship, along with your resume and references.
