Worship Team Director
Position Description
Purpose
To provide contemporary music leadership and spiritual guidance for the Worship Team ministry.
Experience and Skills
We are seeking a follower of Jesus Christ who has the gifts and desire to lead a congregation in worship. Previous contemporary worship leading experience is desirable. Familiarity and skill with contemporary styles and repertoire is mandatory. Keyboard or guitar skills are desired but not necessary.
Goals
1. To invite the congregation to experience a continually deepening worship pattern
2. To assist in planning the worship services
3. To aid in developing a system of distribution and cataloging of worship team music
Areas of Oversight
To lead the Worship Team(s) ministry of WSBC both musically and spiritually (there are currently about 15 to 20 instrumentalists and vocalists involved on a rotating schedule.)
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and lead the weekly Worship Team rehearsals.
2. Lead, or designate leadership, for portions of the Worship Services
3. Choose the music for the Worship Team songs.
4. Meet with a weekly worship planning group to plan and coordinate worship services.
5. Provide spiritual leadership to the Worship Team.
6. Plan and coordinate approximately four Worship Team-led evening services a year.
7. Recruit new Worship Team members as needed.
8. Implement the worship and music philosophy of WSBC through the Worship Team ministry.
Parameters
1. The Worship Team Director is administratively and functionally responsible to the Minister of Music.
2. The Worship Team Director position is a salaried position (somewhat negotiable) requiring 8-10 hours per week. Since this person will be considered part of the ministry team of the church, membership in our body of believers is considered essential. Primary duties will include worship team rehearsals, Sunday morning worship services (2), and one weekly worship planning meeting.
