Job Description:
Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown, PA, is seeking a part-time contemporary worship leader to assist the pastor at our 9:10 a.m. Sunday service. The candidate must be proficient both vocally and instrumentally on keyboard. The candidate will be responsible for recruiting and leading a worship band, selecting appropriate music, directing band rehearsal, and meeting weekly with the pastor to plan worship. We desire the candidate to have a commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, must regard the bible as the Word of God, and be able to work within the beliefs, traditions, and structure of the United Methodist Church. Candidates will preferably have experience in leading contemporary worship. This is a part-time position without benefits.
Estimated weekly time commitment: 10 hours Salary: $7500 annually Start date: June 1, 2009

Responsibilities: To assist the pastor in planning and leading a contemporary service on Sunday mornings and other occasional non-Sunday morning times (i.e. Christmas Eve) To meet weekly with the pastor to plan and design worship To recruit and lead a worship band To research and select appropriate music To direct a weekly worship band rehearsal To work collaboratively with the audio/visual team to address the needs for worship To stay current with contemporary praise and worship music and maintain a library of the same To provide encouragement so that the worship band can continue to grow in their gifts and abilities
Requirements: Commitment to Christ and serving his church Proven skills in planning and leading worship Ability to read music Excellent vocal and keyboard ability Proficient knowledge of current praise and worship music Organized, efficient, and have the ability to lead and work as a team player
