Job Description:
Purcellville Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Children's Director to lead and develop our Children's ministry (Hizkids)
The Children's Director is responsible for the ministry to children from pre-school through fifth grade and to their families. The primary objectives are to connect children to Jesus during the children's services, grow them into His disciple's and help them serve like Him. Also, you will resource parents and families in order to assist them to develop positive Christian homes.
The Children's Director will work under the authority and direction of the Family Pastor. He/She will coordinate ministry efforts with other pastoral staff to present unified opportunities within the Church Body.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement Children's Sunday programs (HizKidz).
2. Emphasis on developing, implementing and co-coordinating seasonal larger scale events eg. Vacation Bible School and Easter events.
3. Recruit, staff and equip teachers and workers for children's ministry.
4. Develop and implement a leadership training program for children's ministry co-coordinators (volunteers or staff).
5. Continue to develop and update child safety and protection policies in accordance with changing laws. Maintain background checks on all volunteers.
6. Oversee room usage and equipment selection for use in children's ministry programs.
7. Provide programs and counsel to families with children including parent training and resourcing.
8. Maintain personal participation in children's programs and develop personal contacts with children and their families.
Skills Required
*A minimum of two years experience in a thriving children's ministry using big group/small group format
*Familiarity with Lil' K, Elevate, Grapple and similar curriculums
*Experience in developing creative/innovative children's programs – pre-school to fifth grade.
*Great phone skills.
*Proven ability in enlisting, equipping and managing volunteers.
*Able to develop and manage a budget.
