POSITION OVERVIEW: Through worship, the Worship Pastor for Community Covenant Church shall seek to glorify God and edify the body of Christ. The Worship Pastor shall be called to lead the congregation in meaningful worship and ministry experiences that honor God and create an atmosphere for spiritual and musical growth. The Worship Pastor shall provide oversight and leadership for all worship services; in planning, directing and participating on the platform on a regular basis. The scope of this position shall include all elements for these services, including, but not limited to: worship teams, vocal and instrumental ensembles or choirs, other instrumentalists, AV personnel, visual arts in worship and creative elements.
WORSHIP PHILOSOPHY: The Worship Pastor shall demonstrate a strong understanding of a Christian Theology of Worship in order to create worship experiences that both proclaim and enact the Story of Jesus Christ thru word and symbol. The expected outcomes will be worship experiences that are EPIC in nature, (E= Experiential, P= Participatory, I= Image rich and C= Connective) through which a relationship with God can be established, maintained and repaired. Essentially, this position requires a strong, creative integration of worship theology with creative arts, to ensure a worship experience that is biblically grounded and culturally sensitive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (abbreviated)
1. The Worship Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor to plan and implement worship services, selecting or creating music and worship elements to support preaching themes and seasons of the year.
2. The Worship Pastor leads worship and manages the worship team, instrumentalists, vocalists, songwriters, A/V support staff, and various other worship participants.
3. The Worship Pastor will lead worship/music/musicians from the platform using a participatory style – with full understanding of a wide variety of platform/performance styles.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The Worship Pastor shall have, at a minimum, a degree from an accredited college, and 3-5 years successful worship leadership with excellent musical and music direction skills. Person shall have demonstrated success in technical support groups and knowledge of both traditional and newer worship music & technologies. He/she shall be or become a member in good standing in the Covenant Ministerium.
