Job Description:
"Renaissance-The Bethel Performing Arts Experience" is seeking a qualified, energetic, and highly motivated person to lead, guide, and nurture a large performance group of 100+ student vocalists, instrumentalists, and production technicians. The "Renaissance Choir" is part of a large performing arts program at Bethel University that includes instrumental and theatre programs as well as several other vocal ensembles. This is a unique, "one-of-a-kind" program that exists outside the academic realm, recruiting and providing large scholarships in a manner similar to college athletic programs. Students earn their scholarships by participating in University outreach efforts, keeping a rigorous performance schedule and traveling extensively throughout the region and around the country.

Duties include but are not limited to:

-Daily rehearsals
-Regular recruiting visits to high schools
-Directing the group in all performances
-Developing and promoting diversity in musical repertoire and in the student community
-Working with other staff members on bookings and arrangements
-Developing relationships with students to help them in their academic and professional growth
-Interacting with the Executive Director and Creative Staff to produce "program-wide" performance events

Qualifications:

-A desire to work with young performers and help them develop into professional people
-Experience in a professional performance environment
-Above average conducting skills
-Knowledge of and familiarity with a wide range of musical styles
-Keyboard, arranging and rhythm section skills are a desired
-Academic Degrees in a related field are a plus, but not a requirement
-Special consideration given to extensive professional performance
