Job Description:
Pacific Community Church is seeking a full time Children's Ministry Pastor. One hundred and twenty children from nursery to grade six participate in weekly ministry opportunities. This person will provide leadership to this ongoing ministry. Over the past years we have been increasing our staff investment in this ministry. Last year we had a twenty hour coordinator and a ten hour assistant. We are seeking to combine those thirty hours and add ten for a full time role.

This person will work closely with existing pastoral staff and existing children ministry teams, demonstrate sufficient pastoral competencies (i.e. developed and integrated biblical and theological perspectives, personal spiritual maturity, shepherding capacity), and will be skilled at building teams, leading team decisions, teaching and training teachers, and program management. The role requires a person who is able to oversee a large ministry that includes not only many children but many volunteers and leaders. The secret is not in how hard and long one works but in how one works with many to accomplish a significant work.

We don't expect this person to do all the teaching, but they will be a good teacher and one who can model and mentor others who teach. We don't expect this person to be a theologian but they will have a well developed perspective on the role of the church and the spiritual formation of children. We don't expect this person to be a "walk on water" leader, but they will have a leadership capacity to develop a collaborative community of volunteers who are compelled by a mission to bless and nurture the upcoming generation.
