Lead Pastor: Position Summary - Community Church of Douglas, Michigan

We are located on 80 acres with a high quality 60,000 square foot facility less than a mile from the Lake Michigan shore in a charming resort_noemailmunity. Excellent schools. Close proximity to the economic diversity of Holland/Grand Rapids. A great place to raise a family.

Candidate must demonstrate a history of giftedness in preaching, congregational vision development and problem solving.

An Apostles' Creed, biblically based non-denominational church with 20 full and part-time staff. A congregation of approximately 1,000 includes a range from Christ seekers to mature Christians.


Professional Qualifications:
- Preaching/worship skills that will be appropriate for two traditional services (sanctuary setting) and one contemporary service (gymnasium) each Sunday morning
- Congregational vision development with lay leaders and staff
- Problem solving
- Several years experience with a substantial track record of success and experience
- A minimum of a MDiv degree from an accredited seminary
- Appreciation for the advantages and opportunities of an inter-denominational setting
- Work the hours necessary
- Monthly reporting the church Board on hours worked and an overview of areas of focus

Responsibilities:
Worship
- Preach inspirational biblically-based sermons with substance and life application
- Embrace and respect a diversity of biblical interpretation within mainline traditions
- Model a love for the inter-denominational church and e_noemailpass the values of other church traditions, policies, and practices
- Communicate a view of Scripture including: inspiration, law and grace, respectful style of evangelism, even-handed approach to social issues such as racism, minorities, poverty and wealth, abortion and gender, substance abuse, patriotism, etc.

Pastoral Care/Fellowship
- Possess a heart for God and a genuine care for people who are culturally and theologically diverse
- Build positive, appropriate personal relationships within the church and_noemailmunity
- Be accessible and approachable to congregation members
- Establish a clear vision for the role of pastoral counseling
- Foster opportunities for formal and informal small groups
- Oversee the quality of efforts that are made for the effective assimilation of new people
Education
- Oversee programs that promote spiritual growth for all ages and stages of life
- Foster opportunities for educational connections and growth
- Demonstration passion for growing and supporting the next generation of the church
Missions
- Support outreach programs for missions and evangelism
Church Growth
- Desire to serve in a long term pastorate
- Understand the need to pace oneself for a long-term pastorate
- Comprehend the time_noemailmitment involved for the church to grow and thrive
- Practice future thinking to meet the challenges of shifts in culture
Leadership and Problem Solving
- Be an open-minded, growth oriented leader who is entrepreneurial in practice
- Represent our church through connections to the_noemailmunity
- Create a culture of stewardship though personal tithing and inspiring others to tithe
- Be a team builder and team player who builds consensus
- Exercise caution with budget oversight that maintains the financial health of the church
- Understand and practice conflict management skills and strategies
- Demonstrate proven ability and experience in overseeing the administration of a church and the development of its staff
- Possess and utilize effective_noemailmunication skills
