Do you have a love for children and a strong desire and ability to lead children into a deeper relationship with Jesus? If so, South Park Church is interested in talking with you. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Children’s pastor who can successfully maintain and grow our thriving Children’s Ministries.
South Park Church is an interdenominational evangelical church located in a northwest suburb of Chicago. We are committed to drawing people into a growing relationship with Jesus. Through our Children's Ministries, we desire to supplement the family in their attempt to lay a spiritual foundation that, in God's timing, will lead a child into a personal relationship with Christ. Our Motto is Keeping Kids on the Right Track! Through prayer, Bible study, fellowship, and godly example, it is our passion that kids will follow Christ and stay on the "right" path throughout their lives.
The Goals of our Children's Ministries are:
· To ensure that each child attending our programs feels loved and valued
· To teach Scripture in such a way as to become evident in the lives of children at home, in school, and with their friends
· To build positive relationships between children and the adults who represent Christ to them
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Love for children and a strong desire and ability to effectively teach and lead children into a deeper relationship with Jesus
· Solid Biblical background with a bachelor’s degree preferably in Biblical studies or Christian education
· Experience in working with Children's Ministries, minimum of three years preferred
· Ability to understand, create and implement the vision and goals of South Park Church's Children's Ministries
· Strong interpersonal and relational skills
· Strong administrative and organizational skills
· Ability to effectively recruit, train, encourage, motivate and mentor volunteer leaders
· Ability to effectively communicate and work with church leadership, including the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team
· Ability to work collaboratively and positively with the church staff and other church ministries
AREAS OF SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Set a visionary pace for the design and implementation of a 21st century Children's Ministry that reaches out to the children in the church as well as to children in the wider community, including implementing and overseeing such programs as weekly children's clubs, Sunday School, children's Bible studies, Outreach events and Vacation Bible School
· Teach and lead children into a deeper relationship with Jesus
· Recruit, prepare, train, encourage, and motivate volunteers
· Fulfill pastoral responsibilities for the children in the Children's Ministry and their families including preaching, visiting and counseling
· Handle administrative responsibility and policy development for budget, equipment, supplies, facilities, record keeping and safety
· Serve on the church's Leadership Team if asked
· Reports to Senior Pastor
