POSITION DESCRIPTION: EXECUTIVE PASTOR The Executive Pastor will be a leader of leaders, a person with a proven track record of accomplishments: someone who gets things done; creative; resourceful; a problem-solver; and a strategic planner. Primary day-to-day responsibilities will include coordination of church operations, oversight of physical facilities, and management of personnel. REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Responsibility 1: STAFF AND MINISTRY MANAGEMENT. Encourages, supports, and directs paid staff1 and ministry workers in their daily service for God. Specific tasks: Manages all human resource functions; Supervises all staff, other than those reporting directly to the Senior Pastor; Evaluates Hope Church staff, other than those reporting directly to the Senior Pastor; Coordinates and evaluates directly or through paid staff the effectiveness of church ministries, all ministry-workers2 and lay-leaders; and Plans and leads the regular staff meetings. Responsibility 2: STAFF AND MINISTRY EVALUATION. Ensures the effective functioning of the ministries of Hope Church. Specific tasks: Encourages the ongoing development of the Hope Church staff; Monitors the health of all Hope Church ministries; Helps identify needs for the training of ministry-workers; and Encourages the ongoing development of ministry-workers. Responsibility 3: FISCAL MANAGEMENT. Ensures the effective functioning of Hope Churchs financial stewardship. Specific tasks: Manages the strategic financial planning process; Understands debt management principles and practice, and is able to advise the board in effectively managing the church debt; Oversees accounting functions and financial controls; Manages the development, appropriate implementation, and monitoring of the budget; and Prepares and presents the final budget for approval to the church board. Responsibility 4: STRATEGIC OVERSIGHT. Understands and can implement strategic and action planning. Specific tasks: Is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning process; and Monitors, the implementation of the long-term vision of Hope Church. Responsibility 5: ADMINISTRATION. Provides administrative oversight for Hope Church. Specific tasks: Responsible for the generation, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of church-wide policies and procedures; Responsible for the overall management of facilities and operations at all campuses; Responsible for the oversight of the church calendar; and Responsible for ensuring Hope Church is in compliance with all relevant city, county, state, and federal laws. Responsibility 6: COMMUNICATION. (Internal and external.) Specific tasks: Is responsible for strategic communication efforts; Liaises with church ministries to ensure the Hope Church community is aware of what God is doing among us;
