Job Description: To provide leadership and shepherding oversight of the church’s student ministries, with emphasis on reaching, teaching, and equipping students in becoming dynamic disciples of Jesus Christ.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Pastoral care to the Student Ministries flock, including students, leaders and staff. 2. Lead teacher of God’s Word at Student Ministries Sunday service(s) mid-week program(s), with visibility and access to students of all three age groups served as appropriate. 3. Oversee development and execution of an annual ministry plan for ministries to middle school and high school students and college age young adults. 4. Oversight of paid and unpaid Student Ministries staff, interns, and volunteer staff, including recruitment, equipping and shepherding. 5. Meet regularly with other pastoral and Evergreen ministry staff and leadership and elders as requested in meeting, workshop and special function settings. Be prepared to give quarterly regarding the entire Student Ministry and to interface with other ministry staff and leadership as needed with a view to the effectiveness of all ministries at Evergreen. 6. Chief administrator of Student Ministries, including coordination of personnel, budget development and management, program design and implementation, and maintenance of communications and operations systems. 7. Active collaboration with other Student Ministries leadership in ministry evaluation and planning. 8. Support leadership and execution of short-term mission trips with pre-trip equipping, and post-trip follow-up which seeks to maximize the potential for spiritual growth and maturity for each team member. 9. Development and execution of strategies for effective outreach to non-churched students. 10. Initiative in the development and maintenance of regular communications with parents, the larger church body and the community in the interest of fostering trust, support and involvement.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Maintenance of an exemplary Christian life, characterized by the practice of spiritual disciplines and a mature understanding of God’s Word. 3. Theologically conservative and in full agreement with Evergreen’s Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision and Core Values. 4. Giftedness: Leadership, Teaching, and Shepherding. 5. Seminary degree in Student Ministries or equivalent combination of education. 6. Call and long-term commitment to pastoring and Student Ministry and home life that is conducive to and supportive of this position. 7. Five or more years experience as a Student Ministries Pastor of a multi-staff church with weekly attendance of at least 500. 8. Missions: Passion for local and world missions and desire to instill that love in others. 9. Commitment to and demonstration of servant leadership. 10. Strong youth relational skills and knowledge of youth culture.
