Job Description:
This position exists to provide an effective children’s ministry among children birth through the fifth grade in the following ways. -Lead OLCC children to be and make disciples in age appropriate ways. -Reach the children in the OLCC neighborhood with the love and gospel of Jesus. -Develop a strong Sunday morning experience of worship and learning for children 3 years through fifth grade. -Provide a parent-attractive nursery that is state of the art in safety, health, and care for children birth through 3 years. - Design, launch and oversee a network of disciple/mentoring groups for willing children in grades 3-5. -Design and lead a summer program to help our children “be and make disciples.” -Recruit and train volunteers. -Encourage and enable children’s involvement in missions, evangelism and intergenerational activities. -Foster relationships with children -Coordinate with Student Discipleship Director to design and facilitate a transition program for 4th and 5th graders. -Design and lead or implement a series of workshops to equip parents to disciple their children at home. -Equip pre-teen parents to disciple their children at home.
Qualifications: -BA or equivalent, preferably in Elementary Education. -Experience in a supervisory position and in directing programs in an children's ministry setting -Mature and experienced educator with a heart for the Lord, for children and for families. -Relationally mature and maturity allows positive communication with parents and children -Has experience in successfully recruiting and training volunteers, as well as leading or implementing parenting workshops. -Must be willing to become an active member of OLCC. -The person must be a Christian, affirm the OLCC Statement of Faith, believe the Bible is the Word of God, have a personal relationship with the Lord, have godly character, and have a good reputation. -Prior Children’s Ministry experience -A love for children and the ability to relate to them. -Strong Biblical foundation and personal relationship with the Lord; excellent interpersonal relationship skills, organizational and administrative skills
