Pastor of Worship Praise Christian Center Beaumont, TX Category: Music Minister, Worship Pastor & Worship Leader Posted on: October 04, 2009
Job Description:
DNA of Praise Christian Center
Praise is a creative-modern church that invites others to rethink church, redefine life and reinvent themselves. Whether exploring faith for the first time (or again) or already miles into the journey, Praise challenges present mindsets and encourages transformation. Praise does not back away from questioning old or ineffective processes. We work hard to present the Ways of God in a way that is compelling, creative, understandable, and fun. We are convinced that church should be real and not a show, simple, and helpful. We are always in the process of rethinking church so that others will rethink church!
Portrait of Position
Worship is a HUGE part of Praise and the position gives freedom to create worship sets that help people "get it", while multiplying influence through coaching multiple teams to do the same. The position is so much more than putting a worship set together and singing a few songs on Sunday. The position offers the opportunity to imagine, explore, and create a memorable worship experience for seekers and believers.
We would like the worship pastor to have the ability to:
Manage, lead and pastor a 50+ member volunteer based ministry that serves on a rotation (no we don't have a choir).
Oversee entire worship culture of the church, including children, pre-teen, youth, and young adult worship teams. We have discovered that creating a "whole church" worship culture demands consistency within all departments and must have a lead person. This doesn't mean that the worship pastor leads or is involved in the worship, just coaching those who are leading by encouraging, instructing, and giving feedback.
Coach others on how to use their ability to lead worship, giving others the opportunity to lead.
Lead worship as a soloist as well as bring out the lead solo abilities of others and teach vocal harmonies.
Develop and plan a compelling atmosphere of worship by selecting songs with lyrics that onnect, music that moves, and stage presence that invites.
Develop a worship set that revolves around a theme or story line (not just a random set of songs). Ability to be very intentional, understanding and sensing the end result during the creation stage.
Communicate by speaking the language musicians and techs understand (vocals, instrumentalists, audio techs, lighting techs, and screen techs).
Build and sustain the highest trust/respect with the worship team by possessing Godly character and a great work ethic that produces excellence.
Stay ahead of the worship trends (progressive, rock, edgy, folk).
Have fun!
Praise is enjoying a season of growth and will be aggressively marketing starting January 2010.
