NEW VILLAGE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
SEEKS A MINISTER OF YOUTH AND MUSICNew Village Congregational Church is an independent, evangelical church located approximately 50 miles from New York City in an increasingly diverse suburban area.
The Minister of Youth and Music will be charged with overseeing an already established youth ministry and will be expected to coordinate music for corporate worship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. An unreserved commitment to the inspiration and authority of Scripture.
2. Leadership qualities that have been demonstrated in youth and music ministries along with meeting the standards of 1 Timothy 3:2-7.
3. Has demonstrated the ability to coordinate a worship team.
4. An ability to lead worship through piano/keyboard and singing.
5. An ability to work with other people and demonstrates a teachable spirit.
6. Disciplined habits that promote personal spiritual growth and maturity.
7. A willingness to be committed to New Village for a minimum of 5 years.
As a minister youth, he will serve the junior and senior high students in a complementary role to their parents' spiritual leadership, while serving those parents as a catalyst and resource for their spiritual leadership of their children. This ministry should reflect the mission of the church in making disciples of Jesus Christ through a balance of outreach, Bible teaching, service, and fellowship.
Responsibilities as Minister of Youth
- Recruit and develop a team of adult leaders/helpers
- Develop/oversee/advise junior and senior high ministry
- Plan and lead youth group meetings
- Be available to youth for personal discipleship and/or counseling
- Plan and lead special events (outings, retreats, etc.)
- Plan and lead the youth in doing ministry (service projects, mission trips)
As Minister of Music, he should lead and encourage the congregation in its corporate worship of God, toward a fuller expression and experience of God's grace and glory. Music should be done with excellence and skill, while not failing to keep our worship rooted in the Word of God, shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ, and directed toward magnifying the greatness of God. We pursue blended worship in order to express (and benefit from) the historical, generational, and cultural diversity of the body of Christ.
Responsibilities as Minister of Music
- Coordinate worship team (recruit, schedule, rehearse, lead musicians)
- Lead musicians to develop a theology of worship, musical skills, and future team members
- Plan Sunday morning worship services in cooperation with senior pastor
- Lead music in worship services each Sunday morning
- Coordinate special music (develop, select, schedule)
- Direct seasonal choir/ensembles (ability to lead in this area is preferred)
- Work with audio/visual operator (sound, projection)
