MANHATTAN BEACH COMMUNITY CHURCH
(DENOMINATION: UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Associate Pastor to Youth and Families
YOUTH MINISTRY:
• Be a religious presence/leader with the Youth of MBCC
• Support existing youth programs and leaders
• Develop alternative worship service directed at Youth and young adults
• Work to broaden Youth outreach to the greater Congregation, and also other churches, youth outside the church, and the community at large.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
• Support existing programs and CE Director
• Train new teachers and other CE leaders
• Support Adult Discussion Group
• Explore additional adult education opportunities
YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY
• Reach out to young adults outside the church
• Develop alternative worship service aimed at young adults
• Preach several sermons a year on topics of interests to Youth and young adults
• Create opportunities for fellowship
FAMILY MINISTRY
• Organize workshops on family issues
• Preach several sermons per year on family concerns
• Provide spiritual presence/leadership at family gatherings
• Provide spiritual leadership and counseling to families
GENERAL
• Lead Confirmation
• Preach regularly
• Assume responsibility for all aspects of Church Life when Senior Minister is on summer sabbatical
• Support music and theatre programs
