Title: Director of Youth and Family Ministries
Gifts Needed:
Committed Christian for more than five years
A United Methodist (or Wesleyan) theological background (preferred)
Demonstrate a sense of Gods call to youth and family ministry through a written statement of faith and call to ministry
Responsibilities:
To live an authentic life of passion for Jesus Christ with integrity, vulnerability, and accountability.
To spend significant time in prayer and the Word.
Provide leadership for weekly junior and senior high ministry.
Provide leadership for retreats, rallies, concerts, and mission opportunities
Develop discipleship ministries with an emphasis on teenagers.
Develop a vision for ministry and the implementation of various relation-building activities (weekly programming, retreats, camps, mission trips, and training opportunities for future leaders).
Develop ministries for 1st through 5th grade students.
Provide leadership for Confirmation Class and Scouting religious awards.
Engage in relational ministry with students, not only at church, but in the schools and community.
Develop an outreach plan to share the gospel with students not in the church.
Equip students to minister in the church, their schools, and beyond.
Be a leader of leaders by encouraging, equipping and releasing youth leaders to be ministers to students.
Provide training, community building, and spiritual support for lay youth leaders.
To develop a network of communication between students, lay leadership, parents, and the greater church body.
Serve as part of the leadership team at Bethel, casting and promoting the vision of the church.
Develop family oriented programs through activities involving entire family, including youth and children
Attend and participate in continuing education in the area of youth and family ministries
Interactions:
Must be able to do team ministry and work well with church staff, lay youth leaders, students, parents, members and guests of the church.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to participate in youth activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (Youth Ministry and/or Christian Education preferred)
Certification in Youth Ministry in the United Methodist Church (preferred)
Experience:
One year with a church in Youth Ministry (preferred)
Internship as part of educational training (preferred)
Worked as a volunteer under the direction of a Youth Minister (preferred)
Other:
Submit to an extensive criminal background, credit, and driving record check
Provide at least three personal and/or professional references
