FCBC, organized in 1957 and centrally located in Phoenix, is seeking an English-Speaking Senior Pastor who can lead and equip our multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation to fulfill its mission of Leading People to Discover Jesus and Live a Life of Purpose. The Senior Pastor must have the following minimum requirements: Shall be an ordained Southern Baptist minister with pastoral gifts Shall serve in previous church leadership positions – served as a pastor for at least two (2) years. Additional church leadership experience may include serving in the various lay leadership positions within a church. Shall have a seminary degree (Masters or above) Shall speak fluent English and the ability to speak Chinese Mandarin or Cantonese is beneficial but NOT required. In addition, we are seeking a gifted Pastor who demonstrates the following spiritual characteristics and leadership qualities: Visionary and Authoritative Leader – An experienced leader who has the ability to cast a vision for our church, inspire and mobilize the ministerial staff and lay-leaders in the implementation of his vision in spite of challenges, conflicts and changing environment. Relationship focused – Ability to collaborate and build trust one person at a time and unite people towards his vision. Passion for the lost – Has a heart for the broken and strong desire to see each person be made whole through the power and grace of Jesus. Deeply Spiritual – Faithfully devoted to prayer and scripture study, and exhibits the love of Jesus through words and action. Sacrificial Behavior with a Missional heart – Willing to sacrifice for the sake of objectives great enough to demand his wholehearted obedience to God. Strong preacher/teacher of the Word – Engaging style of preaching and teaching that appeals to personal emotion and conviction, and should elicit an urgent call to action based on the Word. Organizational/Administrative Acumen – Tactical ability to train, equip, mobilize, motivate and empower the ministerial staff and lay-leaders to organize and implement programs in all ministries of the Church. Who We Are First Chinese Baptist Church (FCBC) provides a friendly place for families and singles to fellowship together while worshiping and serving God. The church will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in May of 2017. While the Church congregation is predominately of Chinese-descent, we are a multi-ethnic and multi-generational Church. Average attendance in our Sunday worship services is 160 people in the English-speaking congregation and 75 people in the Chinese-speaking congregation. The purpose of all our ministries is to draw people into a closer relationship with God and with one another by centering our Christ-honoring activities on God's Holy Bible.
