Director of Family Ministries
WHO WE ARE: We are Church of the Palms, one of the 30 largest congregations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) with 2,500 members. Church of the Palms seeks to "equip disciples for the service of Christ" through five primary means that can be expressed through the acronym P.A.L.M.S.: Praising God; Aligning Ourselves with Christ; Loving One Another in Community; Ministering with Our Gifts; and Sharing Our Story. We are located in Sarasota, FL, a gulf front_noemailmunity with clean air, sparkling white sand beaches and a sunny climate. WHAT WE BELIEVE: Our children's relationship with God is the most critical thing they can have in this world. The culture that surrounds us is an incredibly powerful force that is exerting its influences on our children and is increasingly drawing them away from God. Both the family and the church are losing ground. We believe that partnering together is the best way to amplify our influence.
Teaching the faith to our children is primarily a responsibility God has given to parents. We believe that God has given the family and the church different and_noemailplementary roles, and that our children will be most attracted to a life of following Christ when the home and the church join together to help people grow closer to God and to each other.
WHERE WE ARE HEADED: Our most important job – parents and church – is to do everything we possibly can to ensure that God is at the top of all our children's loyalties. We need to fight for our children's hearts. This means that we not only offer the full extent of excellent age specific programming that would be desired for preschoolers, elementary-age children, middle school students and high school students, but that we also actively support, equip and encourage families to live out and speak about their faith in the home.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: A teacher of teachers who will synchronize church leaders, parents, and volunteers around this model of ministry for the discipleship journey of prenatal to college age. We are seeking a relational coach who has the ability to inspire, lead, train, coordinate, equip, and facilitate professional staff and volunteers to mobilize the entire congregation in equipping the next generation of disciples for the service of Christ.
