Children's Pastor
Principal function: To oversee the ministry of the church to children in all its functions and aspects.
Responsibilities:
1. To be trustee of the vision of the church to lead children to Christ and to disciple children.
2. To serve as chairperson of Children's Ministry Team, working with and fulfilling its charter (that being Children's Church Weekly Sunday Program).
3. Responsible for lay workers in children's ministry.
a. Be responsible for the securing of all Children's Education Ministry Heads.
b. Be responsible for the process through which all Sunday and Wednesday help is secured.
c. Oversee the work of the teachers through offering help to them, visiting their classes, discipling them in better teaching practices and offering teacher training sessions.
d. Facilitating interviews of prospective workers, and checking all references thoroughly.
4. Encourage the Children's Education staff through the following:
a. Effective seminar training.
b. Give Biblical Counsel with teachers regarding personal and classroom difficulties.
c. Arrange for appreciation events and send appreciation letters, etc.
5. Give Biblical Counsel to children and parents as needed and offer helpful reading materials, suggestions, individually spending time with the troubled child and help in fostering good parenting skills and family growth in the things of the Lord among all the parents at Christ's Place.
6. To oversee the annual calendar of special events, such as: Children's Day, Vacation Bible School, Harvest Jamboree, Christmas Program, Christmas Goodie Bag Sunday, Christian Ed Appreciation Banquet, Kids Kamp, Missions Conventions, children's activities on Wednesday evenings, etc. May be changes or additions.
7. Prepare the annual budget for Children's Ministry and inform and train ministry heads to prepare their sections.
8. Facilitate_noemailmunication within children's Education and to the body through the Sunday Bulletin, Crossroads newsletter and other means.
9. Further develop and define this portfolio as God speaks fresh direction.
10. Spend adequate study time to share with parents and teachers and to teach as seems best, the Children's Church.
11. Maintain all scheduling of Children's Education ministry areas as needed, approve expense reimbursement requests, review new curriculum on the market and other general office_noemailanization.
Qualifications:
1. Mature and growing Christian—faithful to prayer and delighted in daily search of God's word, with a family that likewise is an example of spiritual strength.
2. A love for all people, especially children, regardless of social, ethnic, gender or age difference, caring for them and leading them to Christ.
3. Training in Christian Education and/or training in Elementary Education/Children's Ministry.
