A lot has changed since May 19, 1850, when our church was born--three months before California even became a state. Church on the Hill is now located right in the geographical center of San Jose and is a landmark church in this city and valley. Over the last five years the majority of our visitors have been young families, which provide us a unique opportunity to build a thriving children's ministry.
Our Philosophy
We recognize that parents have the primary responsibility of teaching their children and that the church's role is to_noemaile alongside parents, joining them in the training of their children in the Christian faith.
Ministry with our children looks like . . .
1.Connecting with Jesus through a Sunday morning worship and teaching experience.
2.Growing to be more like Jesus through a_noemailmunity of other children and passionate, qualified adult leaders.
3.Serving others in their family, the church, and their neighborhood learning to use the resources and talents the Lord has given them.
Our Current Programs
Sunday morning experience for birth-5th grade at 9:00am and 10:45am
Wednesday night childcare and relaxed programming for ages 0-10 from 7:00-8:30
Special events for families to serve together off the hill in the_noemailmunity
Special events for children to build relationships and have fun
Community Groups for parents (which are_noemailanized by our Community Groups Director)
These programs are currently led by a good group of volunteers and part-time staff. We have some great teachers and stage people; they simply need an influential leader with a clear,_noemailpelling vision.
Top Priorities for the Children's Ministry Director
Recruit and train more adult volunteers who are passionate about bringing a great Sunday experience to children through quality programming and encouraging relationships
Implement better technology to the Sunday programming
Collaborate with the Community Group Director about courses and program offerings for parents
Experiment with a monthly worship/teaching event that incorporates both children and parents, possibly on a Wednesday night
