Associate Director of Modern Worship Job - Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, Minnesota

I.Build an army of musicians for the future of the congregation and Kingdom
-Dedicate time to relationship-building, auditioning, mentoring, training, and practicing with musicians and teams
-Evaluate current strengths, opportunities, and challenges in our development of musicians
-Collaborate with youth and worship staff to recruit and empower musical students in worship -Create various ‘tiers' of musicians and guide them upwards based upon gifts and development
-Lead the youth choir, including the youth musical in the spring
-Support and partner with staff and volunteers leading the Youth Choir

II.Lead music for Journey (Sunday evenings)
-Meet weekly with Journey staff to evaluate and plan worship
-Connect with Journey worshippers to embrace the_noemailmunity
-Build strong relationships with volunteer musicians (and potential musicians)
-Develop a schedule for weekly worship teams and a process for gathering new musicians
-Empower a variety of gifted musicians to contribute, especially youth and young adults
-Lead at least one Journey worship rehearsal per week
-Oversee the formulation of the worship service order with guidance from the preacher

III.Lead music for Wednesday Night Live: (Wednesday evenings, September through May)
-Collaborate with WNL speakers in preparation for each WNL worship
-Meet periodically with youth staff in order to plan WNL worship
-Prepare and submit worship slides
-Build strong relationships with student-musicians (and potential student-musicians) over the summer and throughout the year
-Organize a schedule for weekly worship teams to follow while mentoring students to meet deadlines and keep_noemailmitments
-Empower student musicians to develop while enabling a variety of students to participate in and beyond WNL
-Lead student band practice
-Lead WNL worship music
-Lead worship at special WNL events and retreats as needed

IV.Modern Worship at Calvary's 11:15 AM service
-Collaborate with Calvary's worship and pastoral staff to develop a modern worship environment on Sunday mornings at 11:15 a.m.
-Contribute musically to Calvary's other contemporary services as needed and available.

V.Contribute to various ministry areas as needed, in keeping with the goals and boundaries for the position, including:
-Staff meetings, functions, and events
-Creative worship planning
-Leading Alpha worship
-Special congregational events and meetings
-Retreats
-VBS, Music Camp, and Summer Camp
