Job Description:
The First Baptist Church in Emerson, Iowa is an independent Baptist church located in southwest Iowa. We are about forty miles southeast of Omaha. We are seeking an ordained Baptist pastor who preaches from the Bible, leads us in understanding and applying God’s word, will join us in doing God’s work in our_noemailmunity and enjoys working with all ages.
Supervision:
The Pastor serves with the supervision of the Deacon Board.
Responsibilities:
Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with Deacon Board, the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Pastor:
Worship
To regularly preach and teach the Word of God from the Bible and administer baptism through immersion.
To plan and lead worship service in conjunction with the board of deacons and music_noemailmittee.
To officiate at special services such as weddings, funerals, nursing home services, etc.
To work with music_noemailmittee to develop and maintain a music program for all ages and to integrate music into worship and other areas of the congregation. Music ability a plus.
Administration
To assist in all areas of the congregation's ministry in consultation with the board of deacons, appropriate boards, and_noemailmittees.
Stewardship and Outreach
Join the church body in promoting, educating, and advocating responsible biblical stewardship in the congregation.
To assist and promote congregational benevolence and mission through ongoing support and by meeting_noemailmunity needs as they arise.
To encourage all_noemailanizations and ministries of the church to carry out their work with an emphasis on we_noemailing others to participate in the mission work of Christ.
Other Pastoral Responsibilities
To provide pastoral care through prayer, visitation, and counseling with scripture.
In crisis situations which arise in the congregation quickly respond and make appropriate referrals.
To participate in the teaching of the Bible to children, youth, and adults in the Christian education programs of the congregation.
To work with area churches and assist in group activities.
