Position Overview: The primary focus of the Director of Worship is to nurture and develop the heart of worship at Ashburn Presbyterian Church and serve as a catalyst to lead the congregation into the presence of the Lord through worship experiences. This position has oversight and major responsibility for all worship experiences and services (including seasonal services) as described in the Areas of Responsibility below.
Accountability: Senior Pastor / Head of Staff, Personnel and Session.
Position Status: Fulltime paid staff.
Areas of Responsibility
Worship Ministry Planning
Ultimately responsible for the planning and execution of all worship experiences and services.
Lead long-range planning for worship ministry.
Establish 3 to 5 annual ministry growth goals that align with church's mission and vision.
Develop, share and implement plans to a_noemailplish annual goals.
Develop standardized process / timelines for engaging Senior Pastor, staff and volunteer teams in both long-range and weekly worship planning.
Worship Ministry Team Development and Leading
Develop and lead the following worship ministry teams and implement associated ou_noemailes:
o Worship Design Team – Team meets every two weeks and is responsible for planning and enhancing annual, seasonal and weekly worship service experiences. This includes incorporation of the arts and special worship-related themes, graphics and church-wide decorations. Team typically consists of Director of Worship, Senior Pastor, Worship Elder, lead visual creative member of the Audio Visual Team and members who are "idea people" and gifted arts, drama, video etc.
o Worship Planning Team – Team meets weekly and is responsible for determining the tactical parts of the weekly worship services, with the Director of Worship taking the lead in preplanning the order of worship for all services. Team typically consists of Director of Worship, Senior Pastor and other staff as necessary.
o Audio Visual Team – Team meets weekly and is responsible for stellar execution of Audio Visual_noemailponents of worship services. Team typically consists of Director of Worship and lead visual creative member (both of whom are liaisons between the Worship Design and Audio Visual Teams), lead audio member and other support team members.
o Sanctuary Support Team – Team meets monthly and is responsible for executing all aspects of sanctuary set up and maintenance including_noemailmunion, pew supplies, candles, stage/pulpit draping, seasonal plants, etc.
Develop and implement spiritual development and assimilation practices.
