LEAD PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Lead Pastor (.75 FTE = 30 hours per week)
OVERVIEW:
The Lead Pastor of Columbia Ridge Community Church in Troutdale, Oregon (greater Portland area)
provides spiritual oversight and direction for the congregation. This person will be responsible to preach,
disciple, evangelize, counsel those in need and be a champion of the church's mission statement and
vision. In cooperation with the Governing Board and the Elder Council, the Lead pastor will have primary
oversight of all church ministries and_noemailmittees.
They must be a team builder who has shown the ability to help establish and cast vision for a church or
ministry. They will not only have a thorough knowledge of the Bible, but they will also understand the
value of prayer in the ministry and life of the church.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Those serving in pastoral roles at Columbia Ridge are seen as equippers, and the Lead pastor is to
help the membership b_noemaile equipped to use their talents, skills and abilities in effective ministry, as
well as have sufficient administrative skills to help the church grow to the next level.
The Lead Pastor is a mix between a pastor/shepherd and a preacher/teacher, with a passion for
presenting biblical truth in a way that reaches both the believer and those that are investigating
Christianity. It is of the utmost importance that the Lead pastor serves and works with other CRCC staff
and lay leadership to fulfill the mission and vision of the church.
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Internal_noemailmunity leadership:
● This includes teaching the Sunday morning worship services, leading_noemailmunion
and working with the worship team leader on a regular basis to prepare services
most suitable for the congregation.
● The Lead Pastor is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the church,
leading and guiding all other members of the pastoral staff, ensuring that staff at
all levels fulfill the requirements of their job descriptions.
● The Lead pastor will act as the ex-officio member, working in collaboration with
the Governing Board, Elder Council and church staff and
● other_noemailmittees as appropriate.
2. External_noemailmunity leadership
● In addition to performing_noemailmunity events such as baptisms, weddings or funerals, provide
short-term counseling and pastoral care, pre-empt or respond to crises for members and● The Lead Pastor will help the congregation to be involved in the lives and ministries of both local
and international missions supported by the church.
● They will work with lay leadership to plan outreach activities in the surrounding neighborhoods
and oversee the incorporation of new attendees and work with church staff and volunteers to
establish and promote the overall Christian education programs of the church for all attendees.
