Seeking Full-Time Director of Music and Worship
Union Church of Hinsdale, a large UCC congregation located in the western suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a Director of Music and Worship. The Director of Music and Worship is a newly created position that will work in collaboration with our Worship Planning Team to create vibrant and meaningful worship experiences through the use of music, drama, media and visual arts.
The core responsibilities of the Director of Music and Worship include the following:
Directs the adult and children's choral and hand bell choirs
Oversees the activities of the contemporary worship band
Provides leadership in creating an enriching Sunday morning faith experience; including both traditional and contemporary worship styles
Supervises music staff, paid and volunteer musicians, and church audio-staff technicians
Encourages members of the congregation to develop and share their abilities and talents during worship
Plans music and worship, in conjunction with Worship Planning Team, for one traditional and one contemporary service each week
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Music (BM) with 3 to 5 years experience working in a congregational setting. Choral conducting experience is required. Instrumental conducting experience is desirable. Essential to this position are strong leadership,_noemailmunication and_noemailanizational skills.
Extensive knowledge of both traditional hymns and contemporary worship music is a must. Candidate's theological perspective must be_noemailpatible with the United Church of Christ and our congregation.
This is a full-time salaried position with a_noemailplete benefit package including health care, pension and vacation. Compensation is_noemailmensurate with background and experience.
