Sugarloaf UMC Worship Intern
Purpose:
The Worship Intern will submit to a 2 year plan of service and training set forth by Sugarloaf UMC Director of Worship Arts. Within that, the intern will passionately lead the youth and children of Sugarloaf UMC into a deeper and more engaging worship experience. This person will work closely with our Director of Student Life as well as with our Children's Director to design weekly worship sets. This person will also handle all technical aspects of their services. The Intern will lead worship at all 10:00am Summer Children's services and both 9:30am and 11:00am Fall Services. Also, the intern will lead worship at all Wednesday evening youth services.
Plan:
The Worship Intern will_noemailmit to a 2 year covenant that will include training in leadership, volunteer development and recruiting, as well as various creative mediums such as video editing, worship planning and design, and teaching. At the_noemailpletion of the 2 years, it is the hope that Sugarloaf would have the ability to offer a more permanent position to the intern or at the very least, help to secure employment as a worship leader elsewhere. The perspective start date would be July 1, 2014.
Duties:
15 hours a week to be broken up as follows:
Youth: (4 hrs weekly)
Lead weekly practices and service on Wednesday nights. Practice starts at 5:00pm and goes until 6:15. Service begins at 6:30 and will run until 8:00. It is expected that the intern will stay and participate in any events that the Youth Pastor deems necessary. Will be responsible for all technical issues regarding sound, room, and worship. Intern will also participate in a weekly Youth planning meeting as set forth by the Director of Student Life. Schedule musicians and singers in Planning Center and manage all creative volunteers.
Will be responsible for special worship/ musical events throughout calendar year; examples include but are not limited to Family Christmas Eve Service, VBS, MUATM
Duties are not limited to these objectives.
Children: (4 hrs weekly)
Oversees and executes Sunday morning BLAST worship for elementary age children. (10:00am summer/ 9:30am & 11:00am in the fall) Schedules all creative elements, musicians and singers into Planning Center.
Intern will also participate in a weekly Children's planning meeting as set forth by Children's director.
Other duties: (7 hrs weekly)
Intern will assist Worship Leader in scheduling and designing services and submit to a 2 year training and development program as set forth by the Sugarloaf leadership staff. Worship Leader will focus on teaching, public speaking, team development, and over all worship leading in_noemailpliance with the UMC Book of Discipline. Intern will be required to be in the office with Worship Leader 1 day a week observing and assisting in tasks related to worship design, planning and scheduling. Will be responsible for attending on All Staff meeting each 3rd Wednesday of the month from 9:30am-12:00 noon.
