Job Description:
Renaissance Church is looking for a Senior Pastor who is excited about reaching the high-capacity people of our local_noemailmunity with the gospel of Christ. He must have an MDiv or higher from an evangelical seminary and at least five years of pastoral experience. He must be confident and humble enough to empower these highly-educated and a_noemailplished people and to shepherd them in their relationships with Christ. The senior pastor should be able to challenge and motivate both non-believers and believers by engaging their minds and hearts through insightful, Biblical teaching. Since the congregation is made up of people all across the spiritual spectrum, he must have a_noemailpelling desire to move them all closer to Christ through example and interpersonal relationships as well as preaching. He must be a servant-leader who values consensus building together with the elders, staff, and volunteers.
Renaissance Church is a non-denominational church located in suburban Summit, New Jersey, 25 miles outside of New York City. We are_noemailmitted to reaching our non-believing friends and neighbors for Christ and to raising up disciples who can effectively share Christ's love. Renaissance meets in the historic Summit Opera House, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Summit, which is home to many local shops and restaurants. This area is filled with well-educated couples who are focused on raising families and want the very best for their children's academic and extracurricular development. These driven, high-capacity people typically_noemailmute into the City and occupy jobs in finance, law, and the arts. Many identify themselves as Roman Catholic, mainline Protestant, or Jewish; but their "faith" is typically more cultural than living and personal. Our events, seminars, concerts, and weekend services are designed to be accepting, non-judgmental, and inviting to people of all degrees of faith, while confidently presenting the Biblical truths of the gospel.
Our culture is uniquely demanding and our congregants expect individual attention so our ministry emphasizes personal relationships. More than thirty percent of our people participate in small groups. Roughly 40% of our people do not yet know Christ. We are_noemailmitted to continually reevaluating and pursuing ways to connect with people who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. We are also seeking to provide more opportunities to those who are eager to learn and grow spiritually.
The people of our_noemailmunity are used to excellence, and so we endeavor to execute all elements of our ministries with the highest level of quality and integrity. The interior of the Opera House has been restored and renovated to provide a unique and inviting atmosphere with the goal of breaking down and minimizing cultural barriers. This is a key tool in attracting discerning, highly-intelligent, spiritually curious people whose attention is not easily gained. Our band is_noemailprised of professional and a_noemailplished musicians who work hard in their own musical careers. Our ministries for children and students emphasize a high degree of personal interaction and teaching.
