Senior Pastor
Job Description:
Stow Presbyterian Church seeks a Senior Pastor to lead and minister to its congregation.
The vision of SPC is to establish and sustain a worship, education, and discipleship center to train and support biblically thinking Christians, in order to assertively equip them for the mission of the church and to develop within them a passion for ministry.
SPC is a 55 year-old independent congregation in the Presbyterian tradition with over 200 active members. With the construction of a new worship center in 2008, SPC serves Stow (population 35,000) and surrounding_noemailmunities between Akron and Cleveland in beautiful northeast Ohio.
The Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Preach and teach the Word of God on a weekly basis, providing a reformed theological foundation for the congregation, using personal spiritual gifts for the congregation's enhancement, and administering the Sacraments.
Provide visionary and strategic leadership for the life and ministry of the church that extends outside of the physical building and relationships of the members, and into the_noemailmunity, promoting and supporting missions that make the church a relevant and caring part of the local society, the region, the nation, and the world.
Be responsible for the administration of the church by serving as Head of Staff and Moderator of the Session and Congregation, by assisting Ministries, Deacons, and other groups of the church, and by overseeing the assimilation of persons into the life of the congregation.
Ensure the continued spiritual and numerical growth of the church with a focus on outreach and ministry to the children, youth, and families, recognizing that they are the future generation of not only our church, but of the Body of Christ.
Ensure the spiritual vitality and growth of the church through the delivery of care and short-term counseling to those members who have needs; especially to the sick, elderly, widowed, and those in crisis situations, providing service and accountability to the Larger Church.
Promote a team atmosphere among volunteers and staff through_noemailmunication, encouragement, and education, leading and equipping them as they carry out the vision of the church.
Qualifications:
The position requires a mature Christ-follower with a passion for God's Word from a Presbyterian or Reformed background, seminary degreed and ordained, with strong interpersonal,_noemailmunication, and_noemailanizational skills. The Pastor must be able to interact effectively with people as volunteers, program participants, and with the public. The Pastor must be creative and discerning, able to recognize good ideas, and capable of resolving conflicts while maintaining relationships. The Pastor must be fiscally accountable, able to handle multiple overlapping responsibilities, and must agree to the church's Essentials of Our Faith found on www.stowpres_noemail.
