This position reports directly to the Head of Staff and is also under the counsel and evaluation of the Worship Committee and the Personnel Committee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and coordinate the choral program used during the traditional Worship service ensuring that all musical aspects of the service advance the theme that the pastor has set for the day.
Collaborate with the Choir Accompanist on the selection of music and future repertoire.
Arrive in a timely manner prior to the Sunday service in order to rehearse the choir in its morning selections.
Direct choral selections during the traditional service.
Recruit, nurture, train and direct the adult choir, children's choir and others with special music ability to implement the traditional music program.
Responsible for special presentations of music such as those at Christmas, Easter and at other times that might be suitable for the overall enhancement of the music program of the church.
Schedule, attend and lead weekly rehearsals for the choir(s).
Schedule, attend and lead Cantata rehearsals, as needed.
Prepare own Goals and Objectives at the beginning of each year based on Worship Committee objectives.
Attend monthly Worship Committee meeting.
Attend staff meetings as scheduled by Head of Staff.
Work within budget for choral program established by Worship Committee.

Demonstrated Choral directing skills.
Ability to enlist and mentor volunteers into Choir(s).
Strong team player with the rest of the staff and congregation.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with children, youth and adults.
Dependable, responsible, mature, self-motivated and creative.
Course work and/or demonstrated skill in working in music with a love for traditional music.
Willingness to learn and try new ideas.
Instrumental ability a plus
Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and administer programs.
Associate degree or 2-4 years experience in a church as a Choral Director
