In times of crisis, many turn to spirituality and religion as a source of_noemailfort, hope, and stability. Hillsides is currently seeking a Chaplain to address these needs for the children and families served in our residential treatment program. The Chaplain will have clinical and theological training required to work with people of diverse faiths and traditions in an intensive treatment setting. He or she will work closely with our centralized admittance office to identify and coordinate with the children and families who elect to receive pastoral care. With consent of the child and family, the Chaplain will also work with the treatment team. Pastoral care services will always be informed by and supportive of the treatment plan.

The Chaplain is also available to Hillsides' staff. Clinical team members often experience significant emotional distress as a result of working so closely with children in crisis. Pastoral care services are one_noemailponent of Hillsides' trauma-informed approach to service, which is rooted in our understanding of the profound ways traumatic stress affects children and can vicariously impact caregivers and treatment staff. Access to a chaplain is one form of support Hillsides provides to our staff to help them cope with these experiences and strengthen them for their important work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions include:
Provide spiritual care for children and act as a supportive resource for significant family members
Respond to the spiritual needs and promote spiritual growth of the children, both individually and in small groups
Support and respond to diverse, individual religious beliefs, interests, concerns and questions of the children
Coordinate the children's access to resources, local churches, temples, etc. as well as religious supports including bibles and other reading material
Support the spiritual needs of staff as appropriate to their work at Hillsides'
Act as a member of the treatment team to contribute to the treatment planning and respond to trauma or crisis within their scope of practice

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES
Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education
Prior experience working with teens and special needs children
Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier
