Bremen Union Church (BUC) is a spirit filled congregation seeking a part time pastor to help us grow in discipleship and bring others to Christ. We focus on the core t_noemails of Christianity rather than a denominational doctrine. Worship includes elements from a variety of Christian traditions. Our members_noemaile from different educational, social, and economic backgrounds.
We are Gospel-centered, embracing the work of God in the world today, recognizing the importance of prayer, and remaining open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Job Responsibilities:
Provide spiritual leadership to members, friends, and seasonal visitors.
Prepare weekly sermons, preaching and conducting worship services.
Interpret biblical scripture for the congregation.
Provide care and counseling to church members and assist them in crisis situations.
Officiate at special services, such as confirmations, baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
Collaborate with musicians to integrate music into church services.
Assisting in church financial matters.
Focus on growing the church and outreach to children.
Overseeing management of all areas of the congregation's ministry.
Support, oversee and evaluate congregation staff.
Work with the church council to oversee church operations.
Holding regular meetings with church_noemailmittees such as missions and Deacons
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of the Bible.
Strong religious conviction.
Flexible approach to working with lay leaders.
Impartiality.
Good public speaking.
Compassion for struggles and concerns of others.
Ability to_noemailmunicate clearly.
Creative approach to worship.
Sense of humor.

 

About Bremen Union Church:

Bremen is a rural fishing village and small farming community on the picturesque Pemaquid Peninsula of Midcoast Maine. We have a town office, a full time Post Office, a seafood processing plant, a boat building facility, lobster trading business and a Marina. We are in proximity, five miles, to Damariscotta, the region's economic center, which offers extraordinary amenities rarely found in a Coastal Maine town. Five banks, two grocery stores, wonderful seasonal and full-time restaurants, a bookstore, library, and Lincoln County Theatre which brings plays, the Met Opera, movies, and local theater groups to our area. Camden is 45 minutes to our north. Bowdoin College in Brunswick is a half hour to our south and Portland is within a 1.25-hour drive. Bremen lies on the west side of Muscongus Bay, with the Town Landing approximately 2 miles from the church.  

Qualifications:

Three or more years church pastoral experience (leading, shepherding) - Prior preaching and discipleship experience - Ability to facilitate small/large group discussion - Associate's, Bachelor's, or Advanced degree (although experience in ministry may be sufficient)
