Children's Ministry Director
Job Description:
General Description
The Children's Ministry Director is is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of children ages birth through 5th grade. This is a full-time position and the schedule of hours will be based upon the needs and events of the ministry.
Essential Job Functions
Lead a team of paid staff and volunteers in the operation of a children's ministry, including weekend services and periodic special events.
Regularly select and/or develop curriculum for a children's Christian programing.
Implement children's registrations, classroom management, and security policies/practices in support of all services and special events.
Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers for the children's ministry.
Disciple and develop Children's Ministry staff.
Plan, prepare, and direct annual VBS program.
Plan and implement ministry volunteer appreciation events throughout the year.
Responsible for obtaining additional on-going Children's Ministry development and training through reading,_noemailworking, and attending conferences or courses.
Coordinate child dedication services and child baptism readiness as requested by families attending the church.
Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of children's ministry facilities and resources.
Development of an annual budget for children's ministry and manage spending to budget.
Education and Experience
This position prefers a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a children's ministry Director or Pastor role.
Doctrinal Integrity – Someone who understands, agrees, and is able to teach others in the doctrinal statements of the church.
Spiritual Integrity – Someone who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God building on a foundation of the Word and prayer. Someone who is pursuing God, listening to the Spirit, and experiencing spiritual transformation.
Leadership Intuition – Someone with strong natural leadership instincts when it_noemailes to building teams, developing others, making tough calls, moving towards conflict, recognizing misalignment, creating solutions, etc.
An Excellent Coach – Someone who is able to assess, mentor, lead, encourage, and develop others. Someone who is gifted at reading people and assessing their strengths and motivations. Someone who can create an environment of honesty, trust, and passionate debate.
Excellent People Skills – Someone who is gifted at reading and relating to others. Someone with strong emotional intelligence (empathy, intuition, discernment, etc.). Someone who is good at moving toward conflict and resolving it quickly and effectively. Someone who is a good listener, open to feedback, and not defensive.
A Clear Communicator – Someone who can_noemailmunicate clearly and effectively one on one, in small group settings, and in larger group settings. Someone who knows how to share the right things, with the right people, at the right time, and in the right way.
