Job Description:

The Lead Pastor will

  • work closely with the other Elders in leading, feeding, serving, and guarding the church family;

  • "equip the saints for the work of the ministry" (Eph. 4:12), making disciples who make disciples where they live, play, and work;

  • care for the congregation alongside the Elders;

  • lead and supervise the paid staff;


  • develop relationships and seek partnerships with local leaders and ministries, with a heart for the_noemailmunity; and

  • along with the Elders, have a primary role in articulating and protecting the church's vision, which is carried out through the church's various ministries.




 

About Christ our Redeemer Community Church (COR):

COR is a non-denominational community church whose “base camp” is in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. Since its founding in 2007, COR has grown to a committed congregation of 120-150 people (pre-COVID) and remained committed to its founding vision that can most succinctly be summarized by our “Four G’s:”



  • Grace is our glorious foundation

  • Grow! is our constant exhortation

  • Groups are our primary organization

  • Go! is our radical orientation



COR’s identity centers around community, discipleship, spirituality, missions, truth, and hospitality, perhaps best summarized as “incarnational ministry.” As we see it, that means learning to love one another, growing in Christ, and living the life of the Spirit of Jesus, not just on Sundays but throughout the week in our daily lives.



 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Meet the elder requirements stated in 1Timothy 3 and Titus 2

  • Be in agreement with Church’s Theological Statement (https://www.christourredeemer.com/our-beliefs/) and its Constitution and Bylaws and Vision Statement (https://www.christourredeemer.com/about-us/vision/)

  • Proven excellence in Biblical preaching and teaching

  • Clear giftings in visioning, communicating, motivating and equipping the church family for incarnational ministry

  • 3 years of pastoral ministry experience or 5 years of equivalent ministry experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and graduate level theological education

  • Experience leading and managing staff and/or volunteers



Preferred Qualifications

  • MDiv or equivalent degree

  • Experience cultivating relationships with other leaders and ministries in the community

  • Passion for community and global outreach and ministry

  • Experience leveraging digital technologies to expand and deepen ministry outreach
