Senior Pastor
Job Description:
The Senior Pastor is responsible for leading the church body and is_noemailmitted to the vision and
purpose of the church.

1. Personal Characteristics

Maintains a growing personal devotional and prayer life

Continues to learn, not just for material to teach, but also for personal and professional growth
Demonstrates excellent written and oral_noemailmunication skills (including but not limited to online_noemailmunication, sermon prep, and interacting with the_noemailmunity)
Is hospitable, approachable, and friendly
2. Spiritual Leadership
Leads, shepherds, and supports the church staff as they lead in their assigned areas of ministry and in their spiritual growth and devotional lives
Communicates biblical truth and its application and relevance to the congregation through the ministry of preaching and teaching
Is responsible for selecting speakers with integrity for Sunday services
Directs in ordinances and special services
Teaches and encourages spiritual growth and maturity in Christ's followers, which includes but is not limited to stewardship
3. Pastoral Care
Advises and supports lay leaders, attendees, members, and prospective Christians
Supports the deacons and chair of deacons with leadership of the deacon ministry
Directs members or others in times of need or crisis, refers for counseling as needs arise
Offers premarital counseling and equips others to offer premarital counseling
Disciples believers in Christian growth and service
Fosters open_noemailmunication,_noemailmunity, unity, and servanthood
Resolves conflict, pursues peace, and nurtures strong relationships
4. Outreach Leadership
Has a vision for and encourages local, regional, and global missions
We_noemailes and reaches out to visitors and the_noemailmunity along with delegating to a team
Leads church in planning and implementing outreach efforts
Personally participates in_noemailmunity events and_noemailanizations
Encouraged to participate in conferences,_noemailmittees, boards, etc.
5. Administrative Leadership
Initiates and_noemailmunicates church vision and strategic planning
Collaborates with the staff, Leadership Team, Finance Officer, and other church leaders, on matters relevant to the administration of the church including the budget and finances
Supervises, guides, and develops church staff
Promotes and maintains the health and vitality of the church
Serves as head of the Leadership Team
Directs annual performance and growth reviews of staff
Actively supports ministry lay leaders

About Emmanuel Baptist Church:
EBC has an effective staff consisting of a Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor, and halftime Children's Ministry Director. We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist and Northwest Baptist Conventions and are partnered with both a Chinese speaking church and our own Spanish speaking service. Our services are 75 minutes long with contemporary worship led by our fulltime Worship Pastor and a message. Post-Covid we have about 200 in attendance and 50 online attenders.
EBC's Youth Program is led by a fulltime Youth Pastor to great success and our new Children's Ministry Director is working to rebuild the program after being shut down due to Covid. We have a thriving and active outreach to our International Community with English classes and other events.
EBC owns its 30,000 Square Foot building, located in Pullman, Washington – 90 minutes south of Spokane. Home to Washington State University, Pullman is a small town with a major college presence.

1. Expresses a clear testimony of personal salvation, believer's baptism, and a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ with a clear pastoral calling
2. Exhibits Godly qualities as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Acts 6:4
3. Demonstrates the following qualities:
Humble, Faithful, Joyful, Caring, Trustworthy, Approachable, Self-controlled, Willing to grow and change, Action and goal oriented, Strong moral character , Devoted to his marriage/family, Perseverance in God's work
4. Demonstrates strong relational skills and has a passion and vision for pastoral care
5. Demonstrates commitment to personal regular accountability with other godly men and has the ability to maintain such relationships
6. Exhibits a heart for evangelism and a deep desire to reach the lost for Christ
7. Demonstrates effectiveness in discipleship and in equipping members to reach out to the community
8. At least 5 years prior pastoral experience.
9. Seminary degree OR equivalent experience
