WORSHIP PASTOR
Position Objective: To provide pastoral leadership to the worship ministries of New Hope
Community Church.
Position Description:
The worship pastor will be the "producer" of worship services and special programs. Working in
close partnership with the senior pastor, the worship pastor will oversee and coordinate all the
details that a service e_noemailpasses. The worship pastor must be a visionary who is creative in
leading people to God and_noemailmunicates in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the
pursuit of that vision. As this position is a pastoral one, it requires the individual to serve not solely
as a musical or performing arts director, but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this
ministry.
Spiritual qualifications:
1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
2. A deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
3. Commitment to moral purity
Pastoral qualifications:
1. Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of New Hope Community
Church
2. A heart for the spiritual formation of those in the congregation and the worship ministry
3. An enthusiastic and authentic presence for leading a church in worship
Strengths & Responsibilities:
1. Leading worship through music, both vocally and instrumentally, solo and with the band
2. Selecting and arranging worship music to_noemailplement the message and manage the pacing
and mood of various parts of the service
3. Incorporating non-musical elements in worship, such as creeds and liturgical readings
4. Functional understanding of audio and visual technology and the ability to coordinate these
technologies to enhance worship
5. Recruiting, rehearsing and training of volunteers for the band and technology teams
6. Organization and administration skills that facilitate the coordination of worship and
technology teams, and management of the worship budget
7. Leadership skills, for the direction and inspiration of worship volunteers
8. Interpersonal skills, reflecting personal maturity and genuine care for staff, volunteers,
congregants, and visitors
