Job Description:

We are looking for someone with strong pulpit skills, who is able to communicate the Bible clearly and practically. This person would regularly communicate the overall vision of Faith Community Church and lead the church in accomplishing it. The primary tasks would be preaching Sunday morning (70-75% of the time); oversight of staff; pastoral care and visitation as needed. This person would enjoy being around people and wants to be involved in the community.
O'Neill, the county seat of Holt County, is a farming/ranching community nestled between the unique rolling Sandhills of western Nebraska, and the corn country of eastern Nebraska. Two hours directly north of Grand Island on Highway 281, O'Neill is the Irish Capital of the state, and his home to nearly 4,000 people. We have some of the best medical services in the area with Avera St. Anthony's hospital, two medical clinics, two optometrists, 3 chiropractic clinics, and several dentists.
O'Neill is committed to education as well. The district attracts excellent teachers and keeps O'Neill producing students of the highest caliber. Two years ago, they completed a $13 million renovation of the Jr/Sr High School. Perhaps one of the few public school systems that still allows a Baccalaureate service, the school works with the local ministerial association in providing a balanced approach to student life. Northeast Community College acts as a satellite, allowing professionals and others to complete college-level education classes and continue certification in various fields. O'Neill also has both hunting and fishing opportunitites for the outdoors-man.
Founded in 1983, Faith Community Church is a non-denominational Bible church that has focused on family and youth ministry since its inception. Dallas Seminary graduate, Paul Harder has been ministering in O"Neill since 1981, and has been FCC's only senior pastor. He and his wife, Ruth, have raised a family of 3 girls who are all married, and they have 12 grandchildren.
In 2006, Grace University graduate, Jamie Lindsay and his wife, Amber, came to O'Neill in the role of Associate Pastor of Youth. Focusing primarily on the youth and children's ministry, Jamie and Amber are raising a family of 3 girls and 1 boy.
In 2021, Ethan and Terah Wiekamp came to O'Neill with the goal of taking over the Sr. Pastor position from Paul. However, person issues recently led them to end their ministry in O'Neill.
FCC has about 400 in its Sunday morning worship and is regularly looking for creative ways to reach the lost and disciple believers. We not only want to reach Holt County with the gospel, but also do what we can to take the gospel around the world. We challenge and encourage our people to be involved in world evangelism through both short term and long term missions.
Without any ties to denominations or church councils, Faith Community is free to operate without restriction and with 100% of its resources to reach the people the Lord has entrusted to them. Besides offering a full complement of traditional evangelical programs, FCC has completed a large building project for the high school youth that includes a gym, social area, worship room, small kitchen, and 6 classrooms. We thank the Lord that through His faithfulness, and the generosity of His people, we are debt free.
FCC has also been a leader in meeting the needs of children in this area. On Wednesday night, we have approximately 250 children (PreK-12) coming to our youth ministry, and about half of them do not attend church regularly anywhere. The Solid Rock (Sr. High Youth Ministry) has approximately 75 kids each week, and sponsors an annual mission trip over Spring Break, as well as, a trip to Montana for a great summer camp. The Living Stones (Jr. High Youth Ministry) sees about 35-40 students each week and focuses on learning key concepts about the Bible and our relationship with God. Our PreK-6 youth ministry is Awana and averages a little over 100 children each night.
FCC also focuses on moving our adults into a vital Small Groups Mininstry. We are committed to helping believers grow spiritually through these groups that meet Sunday monring from 9:15-10:15. Finally, FCC believes that prayer is a hallmark of our church. We not only BELIEVE that prayer changes lives, but we make it a integral part of everything we do. FCC began as a result of earnest prayer and we seek to continue that by making it part of our Sunday morning worship and various ministries.
