Sunday Middle School Service: Introduction to Christ and Christian doctrine.
Develop a program to meet the needs of middle school students by helping them_noemailprehend the basics of their faith and how it transforms their life.
Thursday middle school service on CBC campus:
Icebreaker: Activities that do not humiliate participant but glorify a winner, increase the chances of injury or demand participation.
Small groups: A time for students to meet with gender appropriate leaders to share prayer requests, talk about their lives and what God is doing.
Worship: A time set aside to express gratitude through song, art, and poetry.
Teaching: A time to challenge the students using various teaching methods that are age appropriate which help to increase their understanding of the gospel and moves them to be whole hearted followers of God.
Curriculum: A two-year master calendar of teaching topics should be submitted to the Student Ministries Pastor and CE Pastor for input.
Trips and overnight events: CBC believes in the importance of trip ministry. Our middle school ministry (MSM) should offer trips that carefully build upon the premise that the older the students get the more they have to look forward to. Our MSM should not trump the places the High School Ministry (HSM) goes but understands the value of leaving something for the students to look forward to when they graduate up. This applies to activities done while on the trips. Likewise the HSM respect the importance of unique MSM events. Trips that we currently offer our middle school students are: Catalina Island - summer, Joshua Tree - fall, (change is ok). All trips and overnight events need the SMP's approval. A collaborative effort is expected within our ministries requiring us to travel on various youth ministry trips.
Volunteers: The middle school ministry must be staffed with adult leaders to help facilitate the mentoring, teaching and shepherding of the student body. Volunteers must be screened thoroughly by MSD and then approved by the SMP. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and active members of CBC, with the exception of no more than 2 volunteers under 18 years of age, who shall be consider volunteers in training. A volunteer handbook and regular training should be offered by the MSD explaining the guidelines, vision and importance of the role. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and maintain background clearance.
